Short Description
Graduates of the Professional Pilot Airplane degree program will have completed academic and flight training required for the airplane commercial pilot certificate with flight instructor credentials and are immediately employable in the aviation industry. This program qualifies for a reduction in flight hours for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot certificate (R-ATP).

Notes
*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development 101 . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.
**Course substitutions may be made at the discretion of the Aviation Program Director.

Pilots with a commercial pilot certificate and instructor credentials may find employment with regional and major airlines, corporate flight departments, charter or cargo operators, agricultural flying, flight schools, or with a government agency or military service. Non-flying positions are also available with the Federal Aviation Administration or other federal, state, and local aviation agencies. This program qualifies for a reduction in flight hours for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot certificate (R-ATP).

Educational Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, CCBC Professional Pilot Airplane A.A.S. graduates will:
- achieve FAA Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certification;
- find employment with regional and major airlines, corporate flight departments, charter or cargo operators, agricultural flying, training centers, or with a government agency or military service; and
- find employment with non-flying positions available with the Federal Aviation Administration or other federal, state and local aviation agencies.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this degree program, students will be able to:
- demonstrate leadership, teamwork, managerial, and organizational skills within the aviation industry;
- analyze and assess airline and airport operations, government regulations, and safety and environmental concerns to plan and implement appropriate strategic and tactical business methodologies;
- demonstrate flight proficiency, safety, and procedural skills to obtain FAA licensure required to secure a position as a commercial pilot or flight instructor; and
- communicate clearly and decisively using standard aviation pilot-controller phraseology.
