Curriculum Maps

Note


*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development 101 . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.

Program Description


The CCBC Criminal Justice Studies certificate is designed primarily for those students who are seeking an interim certificate before completing the A.A.S. requirements or who wish to take only criminal justice courses. All certificate program courses may be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice Studies . To earn a Certificate in Criminal Justice Studies, the student must successfully complete the listed course requirements.

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the components of the American Criminal Justice System; discern their differences, and describe their interrelatedness;
  2. evaluate how the concept of due process is integrated into the Criminal Justice and Juvenile Justice Systems;
  3. assess the implications of Criminal Justice System (CJS) practices and policies on social justice and equality;
  4. evaluate the impact of ethical and unethical behaviors performed by professionals and agencies within all three components of the Criminal Justice System; and
  5. assess the influences of public perceptions on the effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System.
