Notes
*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development: Transitioning to College . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.
To obtain a certificate, a student must earn a grade of “C” or better in each course required in the certificate.
Program Description
The Personal Trainer certificate prepares students for a professional career as either a personal trainer or a fitness specialist. Students learn how to conduct physical and health risk assessments, interpret assessment results, design exercise programs, provide fitness instruction and supervise fitness facilities. Upon successful completion of the Personal Trainer Certificate, students are required to sit for a certification exam with the American Council on Exercise.
Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- develop safe and effective individualized exercise prescriptions based on an individual’s goals and health history;
- conduct fitness assessments in laboratory and field-test settings in a fitness, hospital, or wellness facility; and
- successfully complete the requirements for the American Council on Exercise Personal Training Certification program.
