PDV 319 - Hair Braiding Professional - Level IV This course is designed to enable the student to learn about pursuing a career as a Professional Hair Braider as the last course in a series of four. Topics include a continuation of Senegalese and Corkscrew braids, Silky Lock braid, Nubian Twist braid, working in beauty salons or starting your own business, professional ethics, portfolio techniques, and hands-on practice. Prerequisites: Hair Braiding Professional Level 1, 2, and
3.
Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. demonstrate basic knowledge of and be able to complete the following braids: Silky lock
and the Nubian twist;
2. demonstrate a mastery of the following braids: Senegalese and Corkscrew;
3. prepare a portfolio and identify professional goals;
4. discuss the benefits and challenges of starting your own hair braiding business and
working in a beauty industry;
5. describe income opportunities;
6. explain and discuss their ethical obligations; and
7. describe best practices for expanding your customer base, providing excellent customer
service, and how to obtain customer loyalty.
