PCA 872 - Technology Skills for Today’s Workplace This course is designed to provide students an overview of various computer applications used in today’s business operations. These courses will be taught to intermediate level of each application. Principles of cybersecurity and collaborative cloud platforms will also be covered. Topics to be covered include: operating in a windows environment, Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word applications, and collaborative tools.
Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. utilize tools and techniques in the Windows 10 operating system;
2. describe methods to create and organize files and folders in Windows 10;
3. discuss techniques to manage email communication in Microsoft Outlook;
4. describe how to use Outlook calendars for appointments and meetings;
5. create and manage contacts in Microsoft Outlook;
6. create, edit, save and print documents with Microsoft Word;
7. utilize formatting tools in Microsoft Word;
8. construct a spreadsheet with data in Microsoft Excel;
9. demonstrate how to set up templates for different worksheets in Microsoft Excel;
10. create tables with summarized data in Excel;
11. describe features of Office 365, SharePoint and Microsoft teams;
12. discuss capabilities of online-based storage systems; and
13. discuss principles of cybersecurity and steps for risk mitigation.
