VOA 556 - Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician with HVAC

This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the apartment maintenance industry. Topics to be covered include, interior and exterior maintenance, HVAC, EPA 608 Type I certification, plumbing, electrical repair, appliance maintenance, hand-tool usage, and basic skills required for apartment maintenance technicians.

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. perform common tasks associated with the repairs and maintenance associated with apartment facilities;
2. demonstrate an understanding of the relationships between people, projects, and profits;
3. recognize and troubleshoot commonly used HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, including the adding or removing of refrigerant from small appliances in accordance with EPA 608 type I certification;
4. utilize hands-on technical skills learned throughout the course to perform common maintenance tasks associated with the apartment maintenance industry; and
5. demonstrate an understanding of the significance of make-ready check lists.
