SOCL 141 - The Sociology of Race, Ethnicity, and Culture


3 Credit(s).

Is a course that examines race, ethnicity, and culture from a historical and sociological perspective. Students will explore the nature of inequality and the institutional policies and structures that reinforce inequality. The intersection of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, age, and ability will also be examined. Note: This course is a globally intensive course that promotes intercultural competency and global awareness. Successful completion of this course contributes toward the 15 credits of globally intensive curriculum needed to earn the certificate of Global Distinction. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Corequisite(s): ACLT 053  or (ESOL 052  and ESOL 054 )
