Program Description

The Department of Justice’s revision to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, including Subsection H, mandates that all online content must be accessible to people with disabilities. Industries, including business, law, healthcare, retail, hospitality, education, government, and more, must ensure that their digital platforms and content are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Ensuring inclusivity and compliance in today’s digital world is not only a legal requirement but also a strategic advantage, offering businesses an opportunity to reach a larger, more diverse audience.

The Digital Accessibility program equips students with the knowledge and tools to assess, design, develop, and maintain accessible digital platforms in compliance with legal standards. Participants in the program will gain a deep understanding of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), assistive technologies, and best practices for ensuring that websites, applications, and online services are usable by people with disabilities. The program also covers accessibility testing, user experience design, and the legal landscape surrounding digital accessibility.

Students enrolling in this program should have basic knowledge of Word, PDFs, Excel, Google Doc, Sheet, Slides, and proficiency in MS Office suite.  Students are to have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  Access to a computer and Internet is necessary.

Students who complete this program can find employment opportunities in various industry sectors, including privately held companies and non-profit organizations.  For additional career information, please refer to Career Coach: https://ccbc.emsicc.com/.
