Automotive Air Conditioning and Heating Specialist Certificate

Program Requirements:

• AUTO 101 - Servicing Automotive Heating and Air-Conditioning Systems 3 Credits.
• AUTO 131 - Servicing Automotive Electrical and Electronic Systems 5 Credits.
• AUTO 141 - Servicing Automotive Engines - Related Systems 5 Credits.
• AUTO 161 - Repairing Automotive Electronics 5 Credits.

Total Number of Credits Required for Program 18*

*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101  course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 19 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

1. successfully complete ASE testing for HVAC certification;
2. know how to diagnose and repair HVAC systems in automotive vehicles; and
3. successfully complete requirements for refrigerant handling license.

Certificate Program Description:

Individuals successfully completing this certificate will be ready for employment opportunities in the automotive repair industry as heating and air-conditioning technicians.
