HIST 116 - African-American History Overview 3 Credits.
Examines the origin of African American people in continental Africa and traces the black experience in America to the present; emphasis will be placed on: African roots, transition to slavery, the realities of slavery, opposition to slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction and its aftermath, the period of Jim Crowism, black nationalism, African American participation in the World Wars, institutional development, and the modern Civil Rights movement. Course offered fall, spring, and may be offered during additional sessions.
Prerequisite(s): RDNG 052 or ESOL 054 and ENGL 052 or ESOL 052 or
