Certified COVID Hospitality Compliance Officer (CHCO)

Program Description


​This course is designed to enable the student to learn the comprehensive knowledge tailored for hospitality businesses, restaurant owners, and operators for maintaining safety for customers and employees during COVID-19. Topics to be covered include keeping your restaurant, venue, and event safe from the spread of COVID-19 to customers and staff.​

Program Outcomes


1. identify the skills, regulations, and best practices needed to be effective as a Certified COVID Hospitality Compliance Officer (CHCO) in hotels, restaurants, and resorts;

2. discuss critical elements of COVID-19, including symptoms, transmission,  methods of mitigation, and testing;

3. articulate the roles and responsibilities of a CHCO; and

4. evaluate what steps are necessary to enforce regulations with both customers and staff.

 

Program Credentials


CCBC Credential: Students will be awarded a Continuing Education Workforce Training Certificate and have access to a Continuing Education academic record (transcript).

External Credential: Certified COVID Hospitality Compliance Officer (CHCO)

Financial Aid and Payment Options


CCBC currently offers Continuing Education (CE) financial aid to those who qualify. We package public and private funding options to benefit students which include COVID-19 relief funding, the Maryland Sequence Scholarship, CCBC Opportunity Grant funding, Maryland Promise, and Baltimore County College Promise. Financial aid funding is available for select CE courses and programs. 

Additional opportunities for financial support include partial payment options through Nelnet Business Solutions and tuition waivers for those who qualify. Resources outside of CCBC may also be available through employer/sponsor paid tuition,  the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), and your local office of workforce development.

Program Length


Approximately 100 hours

Students will have 6 months to complete the course

  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. MicrosoftEdge and Safari are also compatible.

Application Process


To apply, go to www.ccbcmd.edu/apply and complete the CCBC Continuing Education Workforce Certificate program application.  An email will then be sent with program information and any additional requirements necessary to apply for the program.

Open Entry – No screening or documentation required.

Skills for Success


Outstanding people & organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, strong communication skills; ability to understand and follow safety protocols and regulations. Knowledge and/or experience in hospitality-related fields helpful.

Since this course is delivered completely online, students need the self-discipline to complete all required material. A course instructor will be available to assist students with questions and to lead online activities during the course of the class.
