Casino Dealer

Program Description


Casino Dealer Training at CCBC is designed to train individuals for a career as a casino table games or poker dealer.  There are two pathways in the Casino Dealer Training at CCBC:

Casino Poker Dealer at Owings Mills offers the 80-hour course that prepares students to be new casino poker dealers.  After completion of this course, students will be prepared to audition to be a Casino Poker Dealer.

Casino Table Games Dealer at Horseshoe Baltimore is provided in partnership with Caesars International.  The 180-hour course prepares students to be a new casino table games dealer. After completion of this course, students are prepared to audition to be a Casino Table Games Dealer at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore. 

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this Continuing Education Workforce Certificate, students will be able to:

1.   prepare for a career as a casino table dealer in casino industry,

2.   identify and demonstrate basic and advanced knowledge and skills as a casino table dealer,

3.   meet the eligibility requirements for an audition offered by Horseshoe Casino approved by the State Lottery & Gaming Control Agency, and

4.   continue employment as a full or part-time table game dealer after passing the audition.​

Program Credentials


CCBC Credential:

Students will earn a CCBC Workforce Certificate and have access to a Continuing Education academic record (transcript).

Financial Aid and Payment Options


CCBC currently offers Continuing Education (CE) financial aid to those who qualify. We package public and private funding options to benefit students which include COVID-19 relief funding, the Maryland Sequence Scholarship, CCBC Opportunity Grant funding, Maryland Promise, and Baltimore County College Promise. Financial aid funding is available for select CE courses and programs. 

Additional opportunities for financial support include partial payment options through Nelnet Business Solutions and tuition waivers for those who qualify. Resources outside of CCBC may also be available through employer/sponsor paid tuition,  the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), and your local office of workforce development.

Program Length


Casino Poker Dealer: 8 weeks; 2 days per week; 5-hour classes

Casino Table Games Dealer:  6 weeks; Monday through Friday; 5.5 or 6 hours per day

Program Requirements


Information & Assessment Session:
Information on upcoming Information & Assessment sessions is available in the CCBC Continuing Education Catalog, on our website at www.ccbcmd.edu/casinodealer, by phone at 443-840-5840, and by email to CCBCCasinoDealerAcademy@ccbcmd.edu.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (preferred for job placement); minimum age of 18. Good mental math skills are needed to be successful in this career program.  Must pass a drug test and criminal background check to be licensed as a casino dealer.

Required for Casino Table Games Dealer: Interested students apply for the training by attending an Information & Assessment Session (see above).  Successful applicants will register for classes at the session. 

Optional for Casino Poker Dealer:  Advanced screening is not required, but applicants are welcome to attend the monthly Hospitality Information sessions.

Application Process


To apply, go to www.ccbcmd.edu/apply and complete the CCBC Non-Credit Workforce Certificate application.  An email will then be sent with program information and any additional requirements necessary to apply for the program.

Casino Table Games Dealer - Applicants must apply by attending an Information and Assessment Session.  Successful applicants will register for classes at that session.  Information on upcoming Information and Assessment Sessions is available at www.ccbcmd.edu/casinodealer or by calling 443-840-5840 or email CCBCCasinoDealer Academy@ccbcmd.edu.

Casino Poker Dealer classes do not require advanced screening.  Information sessions are offered monthly,  Email CCBCCasinoDealerAcademy@ccbcmd.edu for more information.​​

The legalization of gambling in the State of Maryland has provided employment opportunities in the gaming industry, including positions for Casino Table Game Dealers.  Casinos require an individual to be certified in two casino dealer games to be job-ready for a casino table position.
