Note


*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development: Transitioning to College . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.

Program Description


Digital Media Production trains students in all aspects of pre-production, production and post-production. Students learn how to analyze and understand the media around them, create media in many different formats, and how to manage the business and technology requirements of working in the media industry. Compelling storytelling for fiction and non-fiction genres using all types of media is the basis of the program. Using and adapting to changing technology, using critical thinking skills, gives students the opportunity to give a voice to their community and their stories.

This program is designed for students interested in continuing their studies in digital media production to acquire the necessary skills for a job, or articulate into a four-year media program.  It also prepares students who are currently working in the industry for job advancement by allowing students to update, or expand their digital media expertise. As more and more industries ask employees to be lifelong learners and digital natives, this program supports employees in more traditional print based media to transition into the digital media environment. Students will gain hands-on experience through internships and project-based learning. Throughout courses in the program students will have visiting practitioners from local media companies in Baltimore and DC introducing them to the industry and potential internship connections. Theme based projects will allow students to choose the project that best interests them. These projects will create greater retention and provide students portfolio pieces representative of their interest.

Program Outcomes


Students who successfully complete the Associate of Applied Science in Digital Media Production will be able to:

  1. apply basic digital media production skills;
  2. employ problem-solving skills to provide solutions for media productions;
  3. practice project management and fiscal responsibility for media productions;
  4. facilitate the use of technology for media production collaboration and management; and
  5. create media content for a diverse range of clients or industries using many different modalities.
