A+ Certificate

Semester Sequence

This certificate can be completed in a single semester (with permission from the department). Alternatively, students may choose to take fewer credits over multiple semesters.

Program Requirements and Electives - 14 Credits

Total Credits Required for Certificate: 14*

*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed college coursework at other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101  in the first semester at CCBC. This is a 1-credit class, and it does not count towards the number of credits required for a degree or certificate. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) for this requirement to be waived.

Program Description

The program prepares students for the industry recognized CompTIA A+ certification exams and validates the latest skills needed by today’s computer support professionals. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification recognized by major hardware and software vendors, distributors, and resellers. The Certificate program confirms a technician’s ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance, and basic networking. The exams also cover domains such as security, safety and environmental issues and communication and professionalism.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

1. setup and maintain computer systems hardware and software configuration;
2. manage system drivers and peripherals, network configuration, and system troubleshooting;
3. diagnose and repair physical and software issues both in person and remotely;
4. take the CompTIA A+ certification exam;
