Transfer Pattern

General Education Requirements and Electives - 24-26 Credits


General Education Requirements:


CMNS 101 is required for an A.F.A. in Dance, Music, and Theatre, but not for Art, Design, and Interactive Media.

General Education Electives:


Choose courses in each category using the information below and from the list of approved General Education courses. One course must be a Diversity course.

Note that Dance, Music, and Theatre requires students to take CMNS 101 as part of the Arts and Humanities requirement, while Art, Design, and Interactive Media students may choose any two 3-credit classes. Dance, Music, and Theatre students may take 3-4 credits in Mathematics; Art, Design, and Interactive Media students are only required to take 3 credits.

  • Arts and Humanities (CMNS 101 required for Dance, Music, and Theatre) 3-6 Credits.
  • Biological and Physical Sciences 3-4 Credits.
  • Information Technology 3 Credits.
  • Mathematics 3-4 Credits.
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences 3 Credits.

Total Number of Credits Required for Degree: 60 min.*


*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed college coursework at other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101  in the first semester at CCBC. This is a 1-credit class, and it does not count towards the number of credits required for a degree or certificate. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) for this requirement to be waived.

Program Description


This degree program is designed to serve students who plan to transfer to majors in the visual or performing arts culminating in the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Music.

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

  1. recognize characteristics of lifelong learning: independent thinking, self-discipline, and ethical behavior;
  2. demonstrate the studio or performance skills needed to advance academic pursuits at the upper division level;
  3. demonstrate the theoretical skills unique to each program concentration;
  4. use analytical, critical, logical, and problem-solving skills in a variety of contexts;
  5. demonstrate interpersonal skills that reflect an understanding of diversity and the need for teamwork; and
  6. communicate information to a variety of audiences using a variety of appropriate methods.
