This is a suggested schedule for a student who has completed any developmental course work and has no transfer credits. Refer to the College catalog for specific requirements in selecting General Education Courses .

Program Requirements and Electives - 33 Credits


Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 33*


*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed college coursework at other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101  in the first semester at CCBC. This is a 1-credit class, and it does not count towards the number of credits required for a degree or certificate. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) for this requirement to be waived.

 

Program Description


The Business Accounting Certificate is a 33-credit-hour program which prepares students for entry level positions in jobs designated as accounting clerk, bookkeeper, payroll/receivables/billing payables clerk or assistant accountant. Certificate recipients are competent to record and maintain financial data in journals and ledgers from date of original transaction through a full accounting cycle terminating with closing entries and statement preparation. Students also receive training in managerial and tax applications. The application of microcomputers/software is a prominent program feature.

All certificate courses may be applied to Associate’s of Applied Sciences degree (A.A.S.) in Accounting . Most certificate courses can be transferred to a four-year institution.

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. competently demonstrate substantive knowledge in accounting sufficient for further study and demonstrate competencies required by employers to be hired and succeed in the workplace;
  2. competently perform basic computational/arithmetic operations and basic problem-solving skills required in financial and managerial accounting and demonstrate competence in applied analytical skills; and
  3. competently apply knowledge and skills of civic engagement.
