General Education Requirements:
General Education Electives:
(Choose courses in each category from the list of approved General Education courses . One of the 3-credit General Education courses must be a Diversity course.)
- Arts and Humanities (PHIL 101 recommended) 3 Credits.
- Social and Behavioral Sciences (Must be from 2 different disciplines – POLS 101 recommended) 6 Credits.
- Biological and Physical Sciences (from 2 different disciplines or 2-course sequence, 1 with a lab) 7-8 Credits.
- Mathematics (MATH 153 recommended) 3-4 Credits.
- Wellness and Health (HLTH 101 recommended) 3 Credits.
- Information Technology (CSIT 120 recommended) 3 Credits.

*If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed transferable college credit(s) at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, possibly increasing the number of credits required for the degree by 1 credit. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Transfer Pattern Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this transfer pattern, students will be able to:
- write clearly on issues of domestic and international politics;
- prepare for active citizenship and begin to develop an ongoing interest in national and global politics with participation as a civically engaged member of society;
- analyze political and policy problems and formulate options and strategies;
- apply internet and traditional library resources to research key local, state, national and international issues;
- demonstrate critical thinking and research skills including the ability to form an argument, detect misconceptions about key issues of policy and politics; and
- evaluate the concepts and theories of major political thinkers, authors and philosophers.
Transfer Pattern Description:
This degree pattern is designed to help students transfer to colleges and universities that offer a baccalaureate degree with a major in Political Science. Beyond the General Education requirements and other degree, program, and elective requirements, this pattern should be considered in light of the requirements of the selected transfer institution. Students should consult with a transfer coordinator or an advisor for information about specific requirements. |
