* A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101  course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 19 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:


Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. complete the Red Hat certification exams for the Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA);
  2. complete the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE);
  3. setup and maintain workstation and server environments in a physical and virtual environment; and
  4. administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems and servers in a networked environment.

Program Description:


Students learn the concepts and skills needed to use and administer the popular Red Hat Linux Enterprise operating system in a networked environment. Students will learn the foundational philosophies, file systems, and user commands of the Linux, X-Window system, KDE, and GNOME desktop environments. In addition, students will also administer systems, install, setup, and configuration the Red Hat operating system. This program incorporates Red Hat Academy courses that prepare students for the Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) certification exam.
