Certificate Requirements:
Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 14-16*
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 15-17 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- practice the principles of geospatial applications through laboratory experience, client-based projects, internships and additional outside of class activities and discussions; and
- prepare maps using GIS and remote sensing software to visually represent data and apply appropriate tools for spatial analysis.
Program Description:
This certificate is designed for those who need immediate skills to initially enter the Geospatial/Geographic Information (GIS) workplace or for those who are already in the field and need to enhance their skills. The certificate will give a background in project development, data acquisition, geospatial analysis, presentation, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), sensor options, and incorporation of multi-sensor imagery into a GIS. |
