Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:
- develop safe and effective individualized exercise prescriptions based on an individual’s goals and health history;
- demonstrate proficiency in exercise science principles when leading individual and group fitness programs;
- conduct fitness assessments in laboratory and field-test settings in a fitness, hospital, or wellness facility;
- use the tools of effective verbal and written communication relating to fitness leadership occupations; and
- transfer to a four-year institution as a Kinesiology major, with junior year status.
Program Description:
The Health and Fitness Studies program prepares students for a professional career as either a personal trainer, fitness specialist or transfer student to a four-year kinesiology degree. Students learn how to conduct physical and health risk assessments, interpret assessment results, design exercise programs, provide fitness instruction and supervise fitness facilities. |
