Certificate Requirements:
Total Number of Credits Required for Alternative Energy Certificate: 29*
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 30 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- apply for and acquire an entry level position in the HVAC field;
- exhibit confidence servicing and installing HVAC systems;
- develop both a safe and moral approach to the HVAC field;
- achieve a broad knowledge of all applications of HVAC, both practical and scientific; and
- understand alternative options to standard HVAC and energy applications.
Certificate Description:
This certificate is designed to prepare students for a career in the heating, ventilating, air conditioning industry with an emphasis on energy efficiency. The curriculum blends up-to-date energy concepts in solar, wind, and high tech controls with HVACR theory and practical, “hands on” experiences for the purpose of developing confident, professional technicians/installers. All classes completed for this certificate serve as building blocks for the degree in HVAC and Energy Technology at CCBC. |
