*If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed transferable college credit at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC. This must be completed prior to completing the Selective Admissions process and entering the Veterinary Technology program. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

1. perform the primary duties associated with the animal care field, including clinical laboratory and operating room procedures;
2. establish patient imaging protocols;
3. administer medications;
4. educate owners about their pets’ health problems and how to achieve successful resolution of those problems; and
5. supervise all aspects of patient care.

Program Description:

Admission into this program requires special selection. In order to be considered for admission, an applicant must have all prerequisites satisfied: VETT 106  and BIOL 110 . Students must successfully complete, with a grade of “C” or better, all veterinary technology and science courses in order to continue in and complete the program.

Admission to this program is a separate process from admission to the college. Admission to the School of Health Professions programs is competitive and selective and is based on published criteria. Information about admissions processes for the programs in the School of Health Professions and the Selective Admissions Application form are available in the Office of Selective Admissions in Room J-101 on the Essex Campus or by calling 443-840-1989. This information is also available in the Admissions or Records and Registration office on each campus.

The Veterinary Technology program accepts a class in the Fall of every academic calendar year. To be guaranteed consideration for fall admission to the program, all application materials must be completed by April 15. After April 15, applications will be accepted on a space available basis.

Students must be available to take courses in the day and evening. In addition, it may be necessary to attend Saturday classes and to travel to off-campus locations. (Transportation is not provided.) Students are required to undergo pre-exposure rabies immunization, furnish proof of health insurance, have had a Tetanus booster within the last five years, and purchase uniforms.

School of Health Professions Policies: Students in the School of Health Professions are expected to conduct themselves according to an honor code, exhibit professional behavior, communicate effectively in English, provide proof of health insurance and immunizations, and may be asked to submit to a criminal background check and random urine drug testing. Students are expected to incur costs associated with these requirements.
