*If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed transferable college credit(s) at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 34 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- competently demonstrate substantive knowledge in accounting sufficient for further study and demonstrate competencies required by employers to be hired and succeed in the workplace;
- competently perform basic computational/arithmetic operations and basic problem-solving skills required in financial and managerial accounting and demonstrate competence in applied analytical skills; and
- competently apply knowledge and skills of civic engagement.
Program Description:
The Business Accounting Certificate is a 33-credit-hour program which prepares students for entry level positions in jobs designated as accounting clerk, bookkeeper, payroll/receivables/billing payables clerk or assistant accountant. Certificate recipients are competent to record and maintain financial data in journals and ledgers from date of original transaction through a full accounting cycle terminating with closing entries and statement preparation. Students also receive training in managerial and tax applications. The application of microcomputers/software is a prominent program feature.
All certificate courses may be applied to Associate’s of Applied Sciences degree (A.A.S.) in Accounting . Most certificate courses can be transferred to a four-year institution. |
