Certificate Requirements - 24 Credits
Certificate Electives - 6-7 Credits
(Choose two of the following) Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 30-31*
NOTE: Students who plan to transfer to a four-year college are advised to check the transferability of all their electives before registering. This can be done online through the ARTSYS Web site at http://artweb.usmd.edu
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 31-32 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- use current industry-standard authoring applications to create cross-platform interactive media products incorporating text, graphics, animation, video, scripted interaction, and sound;
- apply team concepts to the development of interactive media;
- design and use storyboards for the layout and implementation of interactive media projects;
- apply human computer interface skills to enhance user interaction;
- apply ethical practices concerning topics such as copyright, usability, and accessibility to the development of interactive media products;
- identify principles of interactive media based on events, people, and technologies of interactive media; and
- explain basic concepts of how interactive media works, define the terminology associated with the Internet and interactive media, and use the Internet to explore the wide range of offerings in communication, information, politics, and commerce.
Program Description:
The Interactive Media certificate provides students with the skills to design and develop interactive computer materials for business training, information dissemination and education. Students will find job opportunities in advertising, publishing, animation and instructional technology. Courses are offered both day and evening.
Students who choose this curriculum and plan to transfer courses to a four-year institution should talk with the program coordinator and/or an academic advisor. Since four-year institutions may vary in their requirements, and because requirements also vary according to the Bachelor’s degree program at the transfer institution, it is strongly recommended that students also contact the appropriate department at the intended transfer institution. |
