Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 15*

*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101  course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. create three dimensional, computer models utilizing sketches, profiles, dimensions and constraints;
  2. develop associative two dimensional, orthographic drawings from three dimensional models; and
  3. generate and plot rendered images from three dimensional models.

Program Description:

Certificates are awarded to students completing the course pattern with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as the prerequisites are met. The CAD certificate program prepares students to work as computer-aided drafters/designers in industry and to upgrade the skills of persons presently employed as drafters in a relatively short academic period by including only CADD and supporting courses. Course work completed in the CADD certificate program is fully applicable to the CADD Associate of Applied Science degree.

The CAD Mechanical Modeling certificate prepares the student for employment in a design firm addressing manufacturing or mechanical problems.

Students should contact the CADD Program Coordinator for guidance in selecting appropriate electives and sequencing of courses.
