*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the degree to 70 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived. Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:
- successfully complete ASE testing for Master Technician Certification;
- diagnose and repair engines and related systems;
- diagnose and repair transmissions and related systems;
- diagnose and repair brakes and related systems;
- diagnose and repair steering and suspension systems and their related systems;
- diagnose and repair HVAC systems and related systems; and
- diagnose and repair electrical and electronics and related systems.
Program Description:
This curriculum prepares individuals for employment in the automotive repair industry or upgrades service and repair skills. Job opportunities include journeyman, garage, agency and line technicians. Competency in engine drivability diagnosis and electrical/electronic diagnosis and repair as well as general service in other systems will be developed.
Students who choose this curriculum and want to transfer to a four-year institution should check with the program coordinator and/or academic advisor. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as prerequisites are met. However, please see the Program Coordinator for the preferred class sequence. Some courses may be offered in alternate semesters only.
