*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101  course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the degree to 65 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:


Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

  1. read, visualize, and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, conditions and contracts, and analyze how they work together as a unified whole;
  2. identify, describe, and select construction materials and methods used in residential and commercial construction;
  3. apply various math formulas related to areas, volumes, and quantities of materials as well as formulas for construction costs including: time, labor, material, equipment, and finance;
  4. assemble and input construction information into various computer software to help control the construction process;
  5. examine different methods of communication, problem-solving, and decision-making;
  6. identify and interpret safety and health regulations as they pertain to construction; and
  7. analyze how to be an effective Construction Manager.

Program Description:


This degree option provides opportunities for a concentration in Construction Management. It is designed to provide education and training for jobs ranging from construction technician to construction manager. It provides education for foremen, superintendents, project managers, estimators, inspectors, and owners in construction. Students who choose this curriculum and desire to transfer courses to a four-year institution should check with the program coordinator and/or an academic advisor. While many courses will transfer, certain specialized courses may not.

Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as course prerequisites are met. Some courses may be offered in alternate semesters only. See course descriptions to find which semester the class is offered.
