Note
*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development 101 . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.
Program Description
CCBC can help you to begin your career in teaching Physical Education. The Physical Education Degree program follows local, state, and national teaching guidelines to develop teaching candidates into competent Physical Educators. Teaching candidates develop personal physical literacy skills and teaching strategies in order to help others develop kinesthetic awareness and proficiency, as well as healthy lifestyle behaviors. Physical education extends beyond the classroom and can serve as a foundation for other careers in coaching, exercise science, health education, athletic administration, public health and sports management. Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to: - apply an understanding of common and specialized content, and scientific and theoretical foundations for the delivery of an effective preK-12 physical education program;
- create appropriate learning experience aligned with local, sate, and national grade level outcomes for Physical Education K-12;
- demonstrate effective use of resources, learning accommodations, technology, and reflective practitioner skills to develop learning outcomes and lesson plans addressing the diverse needs of all students;
- implement pedagogical skills through the use of effective communication, feedback, technology, and instructional classroom management strategies to enhance student learning;
- implement appropriate assessments to monitor students’ progress and guide decision making related to instruction and learning;
- develop professionalism through the practice cultural competency, ethics, professional development, as well as, health and wellness advocacy to support physical literacy for all members of the community;
- demonstrate skillful performance in physical education content areas and health-enhancing levels of fitness; and
- examine career application of Physical Education.
