Letter of Recognition (LOR)
Short Description
This Letter of Recognition is granted to Mammography students who complete the identified courses with a grade of C or better in each course. The college requires a 2.0 overall GPA to be awarded the Letter of Recognition. Mammography students can earn this credential to show potential employers that they have achieved mastery of the basic skills of mammographic imaging according to the guidelines of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Mammography Quality Standards Act.

Outcomes
Upon completion of the courses required for this Letter of Recognition, students will be able to:
- apply the fundamental concepts of mammography to prepare them to enter the advanced imaging field of mammography;
- obtain documentation of 40 hours of initial mammography education as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) along with the necessary 25 supervised mammographic exams;
- obtain documentation of 8 hours of 2D Full Field Digital Mammography training;
- obtain documentation of 8 hours of 3D Digital Breast Tomosynthesis training;
- obtain documentation of structured education requirements as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); and
- obtain documentation of clinical competence as required by the ARRT for eligibility to take the national certification exam in mammography.
