Note


*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development: Transitioning to College . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.

Program Description


The Network Technology program is designed to provide students with the technical skills required for entry-level employment and with the course work necessary to transfer to a four-year institution. Students may select between the Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, IT Support, or General concentrations, or they may customize their technology electives to best suit their work or transfer needs. See the program coordinator for information on transfer agreements and internships.

Most of the courses may be taken online as well as in the classroom.

Certificate programs of 4 to 9 courses are also available as well as individualized programs. See Program Coordinators for details.

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

  1. install, configure, and maintain client operating systems in an enterprise environment;
  2. install, configure, and maintain servers and server operating systems in an enterprise environment;
  3. install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure for LAN and WAN networks and internetworks;
  4. diagnose and repair problems with servers, operating systems, and infrastructure in an enterprise system;
  5. administer networks and network operating systems;
  6. secure the above mentioned systems;
  7. advise senior staff/administration on issues surrounding network infrastructure;
  8. pass and maintain current industry certification in the area(s) specific to their program option (e.g., Red Hat, Microsoft, Cisco, Comp TIA); and
  9. represent the IT industry in a professional manner.
