Program Description


The Event Management and Design Online Training Program will equip students with the knowledge to advance in the field if they have already working in special events, or it will prepare them to enter the profession with an understanding of the industry. Students build a foundation that they can use to build a career in special events or start their own special event business. 

Program Outcomes


Students will receive a Continuing Education Workforce Training Certificate, and have access to a Continuing Education academic record (transcript).

Program Length


 This program takes approximately 300 hours to complete. Students may work up to 6 months to complete the online course work.

Program Requirements


There are no specific prerequisites for this program. It is taught at the college level and requires basic high-school level academic competencies. Students should have a high school degree or the equivalent, basic liberal arts knowledge, and an understanding of and interest in different cultures.

 

This online program can be taken on either a PC or a Mac. A high-speed Internet connection (DSL or cable) is required. Students will need a basic understanding of computers and must be comfortable navigating the Internet. E-mail capabilities are also required.  Microsoft Outlook 2007 software should be installed prior to beginning this program.  This program is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers.

Additional Information


Skills for Success:

Outstanding people skills, professional appearance, ability to work independently, good math skills.  Knowledge and/or experience in hospitality-related fields helpful.

​Since this course is delivered completely online, students will need to have the self discipline to complete all required material on their own.  A course facilitator will be available to assist students with questions and to lead online activities during the course of the class.
