Flight Operations Management

Important Information

Short Description

The Flight Operations Management degree prepares students for employment in various business-related aviation career fields, including airport or airline management, airline scheduling, cargo operations and fixed base operator (FBO) management. Careers are also available with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Department of Transportation (DOT) and other government agencies.

Flight Training courses approved under FAA Part 141.
Some Aviation classes have lab fees . Fees are subject to change at the discretion of the Community College of Baltimore County.
Opportunities for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) - For Aviation Technology, see Departmental Exam and Articulated Credit by Industry/Apprenticeship. Several General Education classes also have PLA opportunities.

*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development: Transitioning to College . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this degree option, students will be able to:

demonstrate leadership, teamwork, managerial, and organizational skills within the aviation industry;
apply quantitative methods of modern business management to improve organizational performance in the aviation industry;
analyze and assess airline and airport operations, government regulations, and safety and environmental concerns to plan and implement appropriate strategic and tactical business methodologies;
measure the impact of global competition and security issues on the U.S. aviation industry, identify progressive actions to overcome these issues, and utilize technology to enhance efficiency and competitiveness;
respond to changing paradigms and unique challenges associated with a culturally diverse workforce; and
speak and write effectively for professional business communication in the airline industry.
