  • Admission into the Computed Tomography program requires one to be a licensed, registered radiographer by the ARRT and the State of Maryland
  • Classes offered only on the Essex campus

Semester Sequence


These are two suggested schedules for students attending part-time who do not need any developmental course work: one starting in January, and one starting in July.

*Clinical Practicum I, II, and III may be waived if the student chooses to set clinical on his/her own.

Students are not required to take ACDV 101 at CCBC since admission into the CT program requires one to be a licensed, registered radiographer by the ARRT and the State of Maryland.

Program Description


The Computed Tomography program is designed to provide the working Radiologic Technologist with the theoretical background and documented clinical experience necessary to sit for the Computed Tomography registry examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The certificate is based on the curriculum suggested by the American Society for Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and the clinical standards required by the ARRT. Required didactic components will be offered as well as elective clinical components based on student need. The didactic component of the curriculum will be delivered both on-line using Blackboard and in a classroom setting with lectures and discussion. The clinical component will be gained in an array of clinical affiliate sites.

School of Health Professions Policies


Students in the School of Health Professions are expected to conduct themselves according to an honor code; exhibit professional behavior; communicate effectively in English; provide proof of health insurance, immunizations, and a tuberculosis (TB) test; and submit to a criminal background check and drug testing. Students are expected to pay the costs associated with these requirements.

Admission


Applications for all School of Health Professions programs, except Dental Hygiene and Physician Assistant, are processed in a Central Application Service called CCBC CAS. The link to the CAS and the application instructions are located in the program admissions packet at the School of Health Professions website. You will need a CCBC student ID number and a CCBC student account password to complete the application. Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. apply knowledge and skills from the biological, physical, social, and behavioral sciences to perform Computed Tomography;
  2. produce detailed cross sectional images that can be used to diagnose diseases and disorders; and
  3. demonstrate the skills necessary to perform as an entry-level Computed Tomography technologist.
