Program Description
These classes help students who do not have their high school diploma improve their basic adult education skills – reading, writing and math – that are needed to prepare for and successfully pass the 2014 GED exam and earn their high school diploma. Program Outcomes
Successful Completion: CCBC Credential: Students will have access to a Continuing Education academic record (transcript). Program Length
Essentials Skills 1, II & III: 12 weeks; 2-3 classes per week (3-hour long day/night classes) GED Content: 5-6 weeks; 2 classes per week (2½ -3-hour long day/night classes) Program Requirements
Minimum of 16 years of age; no high school diploma; officially withdrawn or not required to be enrolled in secondary school under state law. Application Process
Provisional Entry – All students must attend a regional registration and assessment session. Students under the age of 19 must provide a copy (copies cannot be made at registration) of official documentation of their withdrawal from school, and their parent/legal guardian’s signature at the time of registration to enroll. Program Course Sequence
1. Essential Skills I: ADS 311 - Textbook/Materials:
- Required books and materials distributed in class; $25
2. Essential Skills II: ADS 312 - Textbook/Materials:
- Required book will be announced at registration and will be available at all CCBC bookstores; $40
3. Essential Skills III: ADS 313 - Textbook/Materials:
- Required book will be announced at registration and will be available at all CCBC bookstores; $40
4. Writing Across the Curriculum: ADS 127 - Textbook/Materials:
- Book and materials will be provided in class and are included in the course costs.
5. GED Content Area Preparation: ADS 078 - Textbook/Materials:
- Required text will be announced at registration and available at all CCBC bookstores; approx. $40
6. GED Mathematics Preparation: ADS 075 - Textbook/Materials:
- Required text will be announced at registration and available at all CCBC bookstores; approx. $40
