Semester Sequence

Students who want to earn a Fine and Performing Arts degree should consult the Arts and Humanities Pathway course tracks to see what courses would be most beneficial. Students who have decided on a particular transfer pattern should check that transfer pattern to see the entire semester sequence.

Students are required to complete the English and Mathematics requirements within the first 24 credit hours of courses. Any required developmental (non-credit) English and Math courses must be taken before, or concurrent with, these classes.

Students with no developmental coursework who want to finish an associate degree in two years should plan to take 15 credits/semester. Taking fewer credits/semester will increase the time needed to complete a degree.

Courses Needed for This Transfer Pattern*

General Education Requirements and Electives - 24-26 Credits

General Education Requirements:

CMNS 101 is required for an A.F.A. in Dance, Music, and Theatre, but not for Art, Design, and Interactive Media.

General Education Electives:

Choose courses in each category using the information below and from the list of approved General Education courses. One course must be a Diversity course.

Note that Dance, Music, and Theatre requires students to take CMNS 101 as part of the Arts and Humanities requirement, while Art, Design, and Interactive Media students may choose any two 3-credit classes. Dance, Music, and Theatre students may take 3-4 credits in Mathematics; Art, Design, and Interactive Media students are only required to take 3 credits.

  • Arts and Humanities (CMNS 101 required for Dance, Music, and Theatre) 3-6 Credits.
  • Biological and Physical Sciences 3-4 Credits.
  • Information Technology 3 Credits.
  • Mathematics 3-4 Credits.
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences 3 Credits.

Total Number of Credits Required for Degree: 60 min.*

Note

*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development: Transitioning to College . This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.
