AHL 191 - Introduction to Polysomnography

4.0 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to introduce the student to polysomnographic concepts. Topics to be covered include the sleep medicine, patient history, an overview of sleep disorders, sleep stages, sleep stage landmarks, hook-up of and demonstration of the polysomnography 10-20 measuring system.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. discuss the history of sleep medicine,
2. discuss the paperwork used during a sleep study,
3. discuss the types disorders,
4. recognize the steps of the patient hookup, and
5. demonstrate the 10/20 hook up system for PSG.
