ADS 188 - English Grammar Pedagogy

This course is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the English language and of grammar pedagogy. Topics include best practices, major concepts in the structure of English, and targeting topics that are most relevant for ESL and EFL instruction.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:

1. explain major concepts in the structure of English,
2. discuss best practices in grammar pedagogy,
3. demonstrate an ability to teach concepts in English grammar using communicative and
contextualized, approaches,
4. evaluate learners’ production and provide appropriate feedback, and
5. identify resources for grammar instruction.
