ADS 218 - Instructional Design in TESOL

2 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This continuing education course is designed to prepare students to design and deliver ESL and EFL instruction at the lesson, unit, and course levels. Topics to be covered include: instructional design, instructional technology, integrating skills and content, and materials design.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:

1. design lesson, unit, and course plans for teaching core English language skills;
2. use a wide range of instructional methods and techniques in English language teaching;
3. design instructional activities that incorporate culture and technology into English
language teaching and learning;
4. revise instructional plans for varied ESL and EFL teaching contexts; and
5. evaluate, select, and adapt instructional materials for varied learner levels and
profiles.
