AHL 302 - Applied Reiki I for Massage Therapy

This course is designed to enable the students to learn how to apply Usui/ Holy Fire Reiki I and energetic wellness techniques to the application of therapeutic massage. Topics to be covered include an introduction to the history of energetic therapeutic applications, mindbody- spirit health and wellness, mindfulness techniques, and beginner’s Usui/Holy Fire Reiki I applications.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. identify and incorporate general mind-body-spirit wellness principles to the application of therapeutic massage;
2. explore how the energetic body plays a role in the application of massage therapy;
3. engage in the application of conscious diaphragmatic breathwork while applying meditation techniques in therapeutic massage;
4. discover how pain and systemic body dysfunctions can be mitigated through using mindbody- wellness techniques in the application of therapeutic massage; and
5. define and describe principles of Usui/Holy Fire Reiki I and receive attunement that allows for self-healing as well as the application of therapeutic centered wellness.
