AHL 283 - Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Lab


9 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to provide the emergency medical technician student with requisite psychomotor skill and critical thinking development in a simulated environment. Topics to be covered include patient assessment techniques, team-based scenarios, individual treatment skills, and simulated patient care scenarios.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. demonstrate clear and effective communication;
2. determine methods for safely preparing a patient for transport;
3. demonstrate patient assessment techniques for patients presenting with diverse chief complaints to include medical and trauma emergencies;
4. prioritize assessment findings and chief complaints of the patient;
5. formulate patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, complaints, and medical direction standing orders in all patient populations and chief complaints; and
6. identify life-threatening conditions in medical and trauma emergencies.
