AHL 203 - Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) 1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to respond to a mass casualty or active shooter event. Topics to be covered include hemorrhage control, surgical airway control and needle decompression, strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments, caring for pediatric patients, and techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. define the different phases of tactical care;
2. identify strategies designed to decrease preventable death in a high-threat prehospital environment;
3. demonstrate methods to control life-threatening hemorrhage using improvised and commercial equipment;
4. identify methods to manage thoracic injuries, including application of chest seals;
5. recognize potential pitfalls of casualty evacuation in a high-threat environment; and
