AHL 328 - Dispensary Technician II


3 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This continuing education course is designed to provide occupational training to work in a medical cannabis dispensary. This course focuses on medicinal knowledge, patient care, and education aspects of the dispensary technician’s role. Topics to be covered include : recent research on medicinal cannabis, medicinal properties of cannabis, managing the patient experience, and counseling methodology and practices.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. demonstrate factual knowledge of medicinal properties of cannabis, including recent research of isolated CBD molecules, importance of terpenes, the endocannabinoid system, 3-types of medical cannabis, strain specific treatments, delivery systems, and other pertinent knowledge;
2. provide current research based information and resources to the patient through knowledge of products and delivery systems related to their recommended treatment;
3. apply knowledge of medical cannabis delivery methods, products, patient preferences and tolerance to dosages to help patients make informed choices;
4. identify steps to manage the patient experience effectively and empathically, from first walk-in experience through check-out and follow-up; and
5. perform marketing activities to promote retention of client base and maintain customer loyalty.
