This continuing education course is designed to provide entry-level occupational training to work in a medical cannabis dispensary. This course provides an overview of the role, expected professional demeanor, and skill sets of dispensary personnel in the cannabis industry, and includes Maryland regulations specific to dispensary operations including security, inventory management, software types, recordkeeping, and patient management from check-in to check-out, including privacy statements and follow-up. Topics to be covered include: the scope of technician responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations, and forward-planning for business growth through best management practices.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. explain the purpose and function of a medical cannabis dispensary in the context of the cannabis industry;
2. articulate state regulations specific to dispensary operations;
3. demonstrate key skills related to state reporting, dispensary specific software, inventory management, recordkeeping, and project planning;
4. explain the state patient and caregiver registry system, process, and the dispensary’s role; and
5. practice selected customer service skills, sales skills, and professional behaviors as related to daily operations of a dispensary.
