PCO 278 - Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)


8 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to prepare the student for the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification exam and a career as a network administrator or security administrator. Topics to be covered include: access controls and security operations, monitoring and incident recovery, cryptography and network security, and systems and application security.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:

1. explain authentication, identity management, and network trusts;
2. identify strategies developed by cyber adversaries to attack networks and hosts and the
countermeasures deployed to defend them;
3. demonstrate the ability to install and configure network and host-based security
technologies;
4. demonstrate the ability to implement risk management, security assessment, and incident
handling;
5. use cryptography, encryption, Public Key Infrastructure, and certificates, and
6. implement security auditing, and systems monitoring and analysis.
