FLA 236 - Theatrical Production Interpreting

2.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This continuing education course is designed to prepare interpreters to work in the specialty area of deaf theatre artists. Topics to be covered include: observation of live theatre rehearsals, participation in mock interpreting practice, and orientation to the theatre space through guided tours.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. describe the various titles and roles of theatre practitioners;
2. recognize the timeline of a theatre production;
3. identify interpreter team dynamics;
4. analyze the power dynamics an interpreter’s presence has in theatre spaces; and
5. analyze theatre spaces for interpreter placement.
