VOB 135 - Intermediate Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick) XX Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).
Course Objectives:
This class is designed to enable the student to advance their skills in the Shielded Metal Arc (Stick) process. Emphasis will be placed on the student’s ability to prepare material and perform welding of fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E7018 electrodes in all positions. Practice is geared towards Structural Welding Code vertical and overhead tests. Topics to be covered include safety, material and machine setup, fillet welds, and groove welds.
Upon compeltion of this course the student will be able to:
1. perform Safety inspection of equipment and accessories;
2. set-up and prepare material for welding;
3. adjust machine to desired polarity and amperage setting;
4. make fillet welds in all positions on carbon steel material;
5. make groove welds in all position carbon steel material; and
6. perform AWS D1.1, Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G & 4G positions on 3/8” plate.
