ADS 057 - Reading Intensive I Refresher

This course is designed to enable students with disabilities to review and reinforce their skills in reading with phonemic awareness. Topics to be covered include decoding, contractions, compound words, text features, fluency, letter-sound relationships, and common writing tasks.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. recognize and decode using letter sound associations and phonetic patterns (CVC, CVCe, and CVVC);
2. recognize and decode using word patterns or clusters of letter that occur frequently together, such as blends, diphthongs, and digraphs; and
3. apply understanding of letter sound relationships and rules to common writing tasks like emails, text messages and notes.
