ADS 054 - English I: Foundations of Literacy Refresher

0.9 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to enable students with disabilities to review and reinforce basic literacy skills in between semesters. Topics to be covered include phonemic awareness, building a sight word vocabulary, using context clues, and strategies for reading basic texts.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. demonstrate comprehension of instructions for recipes, first aid, etc.;
2. create a sight word vocabulary that includes words used in every day tasks; and
3. identify the main ideas of a short passage or poem.
