CHA 267 - Professional Animal Workers Practicum 5 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).
This course is designed to give students with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities the skills to work in animal care settings, including animal day cares, kennels, and animal hospitals. Topics to be covered include appropriate workplace behavior, time management, conflict resolution and self-advocacy, working with a supervisor, animal care, and customer service.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate positive workplace behaviors, including performing tasks as instructed and asking for assistance when needed;
2. demonstrate effective time management at a job;
3. demonstrate effective conflict resolution and self-advocacy skills;
4. demonstrate how to appropriately care for animals in a professional manner and setting;
5. demonstrate how to assist an animal care professional in the care and/or examination of an animal; and
6. demonstrate how to work with customers in a positive manner.
