CHA 278 - Office Applications 2 2.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).
This course is designed to enable the student to build on the skills of Office Applications 1, using more advanced features and functions of both Google applications and Microsoft Office applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email. Topics to be covered include email functions like priority and scheduling delivery; drafting a business memorandum; more formatting features for documents and spreadsheets, including simple formulas and inserting objects; more formatting features for presentations, including slide transitions and sound; and sharing/collaboration functions.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate how to use advanced features in business emails using Gmail and Outlook, including priority, scheduling delivery, and requesting a return receipt;
2. demonstrate the use of more advanced formatting features in a business letter and memorandum using Google Docs and Microsoft Word, including a mail merge, using comments, and how to track and approve document revisions;
3. demonstrate how to share files and collaborate with others on documents, including comments and revisions;
4. create a document template in Google Docs and Microsoft Word;
5. create a spreadsheet that includes simple formulas using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel;
6. demonstrate more advanced functions in Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, including manipulating columns and rows (delete, paste, insert, move) and inserting objects;
7. create a pivot table and basic graph using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel; and
8. create a presentation in Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint, using advanced features of slide transitions, timing, sound, and creating a video of themself and inserting it into the presentation.
